Louisville Living

Moving to Louisville? That's a Great Idea!

Are you moving to Louisville? Whether you enjoy a hike in the woods or a night out on the town, Louisville has it all and more. Originally founded in 1778, Louisville has grown into one of the most historically and culturally-significant cities in both Kentucky and the country. Here are just a few reasons moving to Louisville is a great idea:

Parks: The city is home to an expansive park system created by Frederick Law Olmsted, the father of American landscape design. Residents can enjoy outdoor activities at Cherokee Park, Seneca Park, Iroquois Park and many more. Other major parks include The Parklands of Floyds Fork, Beckley Creek Park and E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. Louisville Waterfront Park sits along the Ohio River offering residents walking paths, swings, playgrounds, year-round events and a beautiful view. You can also stroll across the Big Four Bridge that connects Louisville to Southern Indiana. Or visit Louisville Mega Caverns, a former limestone mine that has been converted into an underground park complete with tours, zip lining, and bike trails.

Food: Described by Southern Living Magazine as one of the “10 Best Food Cities in the South,” Louisville is a foodie’s dream with a wide variety of restaurant choices. Whether you’re looking for delicious southern comfort food or a fine dining experience, you can find it in Louisville! The city is also home to many Kentucky classics, such as the famous Hot Brown sandwich and Derby Pie.

Music: Are you a fan of local music scenes or large festivals? Then Louisville is the place for you! The city is home to many wonderful venues such as Spinelli’s, a pizza joint with a vibrant rock scene, as well as Louisville Waterfront Park, which hosts free concerts during the summer. Throughout the year, some of the biggest names in music roll through our town and play at the KFC Yum! Center. The city is also home to music festivals such as Bourbon...

Six Louisville Restaurants We Love

There are many reasons to love living in Louisville and a big one is the food. Whether you’re looking for a casual night out with friends or a fine dining experience, Louisville has you covered. The city is home to restaurants that serve everything from Southern comfort food to international cuisine, so there is something for everybody. Here are our picks for six of the best places to eat in Louisville:

Feast BBQ: With two locations (downtown and Jeffersontown), Feast BBQ is one of our favorite places for barbeque in the city. Order it by the pound or on one of their delicious sandwiches. We highly recommend their brisket or pulled pork sandwich. They also offer a wide selection of sides, including mac n’ cheese and creamy cole slaw. And every menu item pairs excellently with their signature Ale 8 bourbon slushy.

Jack Fry’s: If you’re looking for a fine dining experience in Louisville, look no further than Jack Fry’s. Live jazz music will entertain you as you’re enjoy the southern-inspired cuisine. Featured entrees include fried oysters, shrimp and grits, salmon and pork chops. Their diverse menu and classy atmosphere make it a premier fine dining experience in Louisville.

Impellizzeri’s Pizza: Impellizzeri’s is often credited with creating Louisville-style pizza (lots of cheese, a thick crust, and large slices) and has become a staple of the restaurant scene for more than 50 years. Known for its large slices, home-made meatballs and beer selection, Impellizzeri’s delicious food can be enjoyed at one of its numerous locations in the Louisville area.

Royal’s Hot Chicken: Although it originated in Nashville, nobody does “Hot Chicken" better than Royal’s. Enjoy mouthwatering classic fried chicken or kick it up a notch with their hottest “Gonzo” heat level. Whether you order Royal’s as a sandwich or tenders, you’ll be dining on...

Waterfront Wednesdays start in April and go throughout the summer. With live music out side using th e river as the backdrop, this free event is great for any music lover or to spend with freinds or family.

Many spring time markets pop up throughout the city. Fresh farmer's markets, flea markets, and neighborhood sales happen every Saturday in various place. Sometimes are pretty days you can be able to find live music.

Downtown Living

Written by RJT intern Remington Colbert

Urban centers are growing and Louisville is no exception. People are moving into the area causing neighborhoods that weren't residential areas slowly turn into mix use areas. In Louisville, downtown and Nulu are perfect examples. The convenience of living above a workplace, neighborhood market, or staple shops and restaurants have become an appealing aspect of individuals moving into urban centers. In old cities, many old buildings are revitalized and turned into truely unique opportunities for all kinds of use. We have a listing at 415 E Market St. Close to shops, restaurants, the best entertainment venues in the city, and many public events throughout the year, this loft is perfect for the true urbanite.

The building was renovated in 2013, making the units inside new, with a harmonious blend of the building's historic roots.

In time, it will be more and more common for people to be moving back into the city from the suburbs. With that happening, properties like this one will emerge, and a ton of new construction building up. Skylines of cities will constantly be adapting and changing. Less commute times, easier access to amenities, shopping, and entertainment will make individuals more condensed. Urban planners, developers, designers, builders, and government officials are going to have to tackle the issues associated with increased urban living, however the benefits long term will out weight the short term costs and inconviences. If you're interested in moving downtown, or want to start doing some property research, contact us for more information! And...

What makes Louisville a great place to live? Well, there are so many reasons that Louisville is the best place to live that I could write a novel about it!

Louisville boasts many unique neighborhoods with very colorful personalities! The diverstiy of the main roads, side streets, and zipcodes can lead to the perfect neighborhood for anyone! Each neighborhood is full of local bars, restaurants, shops, and parks. The sense of commuinty in each individual area brings everyone together!

Speaking of food, Louisville has incredible food. Since there is a large blend of cultures from all over the world, the food has become mouth-watering and unique to the city. The Kentucky Hot brown originated here! Louisville embraces "local". Many successful and amazing local eateries dot the city. No matter what your appetite wants you will find it here!

Bourbon, bourbon, bourbon. I hope you like to drink because almost all of the world's bourbon is distilled within or a stone's throw away from Louisville. Bourbon is a Kentucky tradition dating back for generations. We have become the leader in quality, taste, artistry in bourbon. If you don't like the strong stuff, Louisville also boasts many independent breweries creating all types of draft beer. With more and more momentum happening with our local breweries hopefully Louisville will become a world leader in Beer too!
